QuickMath+ is a time quizzing app. It focuses on addition, subtraction multiplication,and division. The app varies between simple and medium level equations. ????
QuickOffice Mobile Connect Suite is an office app. This is my preferred document app. The app will open and edit with Word, Excel, and Google Docs. QuickOffice Mobile Connect Suite will view PowerPoint files and PDFs.I It likes with Dropbox, GoogleDocs and Box.net. The app rotates for a bigger keyboard. Overall, it is a great app.
Red Riding Hood
RedFish Alphabet 4 Kids
RedFish Alphabet is an alphabet app. Press on one of the letters of the alphabet and an activity will appear representing the letter. The activities are for Pre-K to Kindergarten. It is a good remedial app for the learning the alphabet.
ReelDirector is a video editing app. Load the file into the app and clip away. I edited a 6 min video I took with my iPOD Touch. It took about 3-4 mins to process the video to load it into the app. ????
Remote Desktop Lite
Remote Desktop Lite allows you to access your PC computer if it is setup to accept remote desktop users. It is pretty much like every other remote control program.
Rocket Speller is a spelling review app. The app has four levels of difficulty. For every level that is passed, the user earns a piece of the rocket until the rocket is ready for lift off. When a word is ready to be spelled, the word is said and the is an image of the word in the right top corner. Rocket Speller is a fun app to play and is really thought out in the way it was designed.

Rock Paper Scissors is rock paper scissors game. It can be played one or two person. It is a good for probability. select what you would like to choose and play the game.

Rory's Story Cubes
Rounding is a quiz app. The app focuses on rounding numbers, specifically tens and hundreds. You can select the number of questions to be asked. The answer are given in a multiple choice format. At the end of the activity, a box will appear with the number of right. The app is easy to use and the buttons are in in good locations. After using the app several times, I noticed there is usually one or two tricky questions in the batch.
SAS Flash Cards
SAS Flash Cards is math flash car app. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division flash card sets are available.It is easy to use. This is a nice app for kindergarten and up.
School & Stuff Lite
Science@VL is a visual science glossary. Your iPAD will need to be connected to the Internet to use some of the advanced features. Click on a word or phase in the left index panel to show the entry. Some of the entries have web links. It is a vast amount of entries and is very helpful. Great for any science class.
Scientific Graphic Calculator
Scoreboard HD (Free Version)
Scott Pilgram is a graphic novel app. This is wonderfully illustrated. It is black and white. I wish it was in color. It is a good book for class since the movie came out this year.
Scratch LP is a record scratch board app. The app would be fun to add to a podcast recording. If you buy the full version, you can add more music to the background. It is a fun app to pretend you are a DJ.
ScratchWork allows you to view the web and have a note place next it. While in the app, you can slide either option to full screen. The notes page can switch between Notes (text) and Math Input (which will give you a calculator). Notes can be email as a text file or as a PDF. For students who are looking at their LMS or some other web page, can takes take notes and not have to switch between apps.
Seed Cycle is a plant cycle app. Click on the pieces on the screen to go the plants. It goes from seeds to a full grown plant. Boxes appear in the top left with optional audio to explain the various stages of the growth process. I like the fact that the app does not stop one the flower is fully grown and has created new pods. Multiple types of flowers can be grown in one garden. I like this app and use it as an example of an elementary science app.
See Touch Learn is a color and shape app. Match the tiles to what is being asked. Some of the questions have more than one answer to a question. There are three levels to choose from. They are basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. At the end of each level, the app will display a score. This is a good for Pre-K to 1st grade.
Shakespeare is an ebook reader. It contains most if not all of Shakespeare's works. I like the acts and scenes tab bed at the bottom of the screen. It is easy to use. If I was a Shakespeare person, this might be my preferred app.
Share board is collaborative whiteboard sharing app. The app connects via Bluetooth. It is easy to connect iPads together. Each iPad gets its own color. Using Bluetooth, only allows four devices to be connected at one time.
Silent Film Director is a video recording app. It has filters built in the speed up the video and adds silent film music to the video. ????
Sleeping Beauty is a ebook reader app. This app is another in the StoryChime series of books.It tells the story of Sleeping Beauty. It is only available in English. Some of the other books available in English and Spanish. The illustrations are similar to what you see in the newspaper comics.
Sherlock Holmes Collection
The Sherlock Holmes Collection is a grouping of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle writings. The app is built for iPhone, but can be enlarged for the iPAD. It has the standard scrolling function of most readers designed for the iPhone. One difference that I noticed right off the bat is the text increase feature. When the text size increased, the words auto wrap to fit the screen. There are several books to choose from in this app.
Sight Words is a word tracing app. This app has words separated by grade level. Select a grade level and words will appear in the left column. If your student has trouble with sight words, this may be the app for them.
Simplenote is a note taking app. Type in notes using either the virtual keyboard or the keyboard dock. Notes can be shared via email or through Simplenote web site. It is similar Notes with the addition of web site sharing. Easy to use, but not first choice for note taking.

The Skype app is a mobile version of the Desktop/laptop application. When the app is started, a white space appears with tiles of all of your contacts. The app works well over WiFi. Sometimes, there is a little echo in the background. The app provides a decent substitute for a desktop/laptop.

Slide By Slide
Slide By Slide is a SlideShare viewing app. Simply enter in the address of the SlideShare presentation page. I like the layout of the app. The history button at the bottom of the screen is helpful when looking for a previously viewed app. The app is a little slow to respond when switching slides.
SmartNote Free is a note taking app. It is very similar to Sundry Notes. Create text boxes to add text to a page. A variety of backgrounds can be added to the page. I am starting to not like note taking apps that require you to create text boxes to add text. I like the other functions that are available in the app.
SmartRecord is a audio recorder app. It records through the microphone on the top of the device. The app can export the audio fille through a WiFi sync,SyncDocs, Box.net, email, post to Facebook or post to Twitter. The start/ stop button is in the bottom right corner and is a little hard to access while recording. I do like that I can add a picture to the recording. I have not tried that feature yet. I am hoping it turns out like an enhanced podcast.
Smithsonian Channel for iPAD
The Smithsonian Channel for iPAD is a video viewing app. The app is linked to the repository for streaming the channel's shows. There are shows that involves several subjects. ????
Sock Puppet Complete
Sock Puppet Complete is a digital storytelling app. There are six puppets to choose from and multiple puppets can be used in a show. ????
SoloarSystem Lite is the solar system review game. The game asks questions about the items on the screen. Every three correct answers, the user gets to select a sticker and place on the sticker board. The lite version goes by pretty fast. It is a K-3 app at the most. My three year old likes more than my 2nd grader. Good graphics and use of people in the app.

SoundBrush is an paint and music app. There are four instruments to select. ????
Soundrop is a music app. A ball drops from the opening at the top of the screen. Draw a line where the ball can hit it. The longer the line is, the lower the note. I played with this app for at least 30 minutes. I had balls bouncing everywhere. This would be a good app for lessons the involve sounds.
Spanish The Most Common Words
SPARKvue is a data gathering app that receives Bluetooth signal from Pasco Pasport modules. I have ordered a module and waiting for it to arrive. I like the fact that the app can upload data into DataAnalysis app. It looks like the app will work with most of the pasport modules. I ordered two accelerometers.
I flipped the switch on the on the Airlink 2 and started the app. I connected the two devices via Bluetooth. The app automatically recognized the device. Every time a new recording starts, the recording is in a different color. Data can be exported out as a CSV file to be analyzed. It is a very easy to use app.
SparkVUE HD is a probeware data collection app. It connects with Pasco probes and also takes advantage of the build in accelerometer and microphone of the iPAD. The interface looks a little different from the free version. Connect the probe the the iPAD via Bluetooth and it automatically shows up in the app. I have tried 3 probes with the app and they can be hot swapped. There is a graph function built in to the app and can be exported other other apps or Google Drive. This app is easy to use.

Spell United States
Spell United States is a spelling app that specifically focuses on the name of the states of the United States. There are two modes to play. The first mode is timed test and the second mode is classic. The letters appear in blocks. The blocks float around the screen until they are placed in the correct spots. Fireworks go off when the word is spelled correctly. The flag for each state is shown while it is being spelled. The timed mode starts with 60 seconds and goes down by 5 seconds with each correctly spelled word. It is a fun game app for grades 3-5 or middle schoolers learning the States.
Splatter HD is a paint app. Use your fingers to paint on the screen. Fun for K-4. Save images that are created to photos.
Springnote is a note taking app. The app syncs with the Springnote web site. Attachments can be added to the note. It is a nice app for taking notes and that is about it.
Springpad is a note taking app. The app has multiple pads for notes. Icon images can be added to each note. I find this to be a nice feature when organizing notes. Note can be emailed from inside of the app.
SpriteDance with Youtube
Sprout Player is a video playing app that requires the internet. Select the show that you want to watch. Good K-1 students on various topics. This app use to work well. It does not work any longer.

Stack the Countries
Stack the Countries is a fun game app that asks questions about countries to earn countries on a map. There are six players and a guest. You can select a particular continent or the whole world to earn countries. The game asks about country's location, shape, cities, and landmarks. This app is more challenging the the states app due the amount of content. User percentages are keep in the app to know how many questions an user is getting correct.The app is fun to plan and teaches a lot of facts.
Stack the States
Stack the States is a fun game that asks questions about states to earn states to complete a map. Questions can range from state's shape, to nicknames, to locations of states. When the question has been answered correctly, a random state appears to be stacked on the platform. Stack enough states up to the like to earn a state for the map. When certain amount of states are earned, a new activity will become available.

Stanza is an ebook reader. This is my preferred ebook reading software. You can read PDF, ePUB, and other files. Text size, backgrounds, and fonts can be changed. Various web sites will convert materials into ebook format to be loaded into Stanza. If you are going to try multiple ebook readers, start with Stanza first.
Stars is a constellation viewing app. It allows a student to spin the sky around are look at constellations. ????
Stop Motion Studio
StoryKit is a ebook reader app. The app is a collection of Gutenberg books in one app. It looks like it was made for the iPhone/iPOD Touch. ????
Story Lines for Schools
Strip Designer is a comic strip creating app. Select the design and insert photos from the photo library. The app is easy to use and has multiple strip designs to choose from. Text bubbles can be added to each photo. Save the strip back to Photos to use it later. I like this app. Strip Designer is easy to use and can be saved to Photos and imported into other apps This app could be very help in creating graphic novels.

The Study of Zoology is an ebook app that is a quick reference guide for zoology. This app was not exactly what I had in mine when I read the description. I was hoping it would have pictures of animals and some information about them. What a disappointment.
Sundry Notes is a note taking app. The app is similar to Evernote in function. Sundry Note allows text entry, drawing, math calculations, and record audio. Sundry Notes does not have as many ways to access what is in it. I like the lined paper for entering text. Sundry notes has added VGA connector support. I do like the recording option. I started with Evernote, but if I had started with Sundry Note I would be fine with using it.
Super Spelling Lite
Sushi Monster is a addition and multiplication review app. The app has several monster that need to be fed sushi. Each monster contains several levels that get progressively harder. Each level has three to five solutions that need to be solved. Each plate of sushi has a number that could be either added or multiplied to another that equals the number displayed on the monster. The number become more complex as you advance through the levels. This app is great for reviewing mathematics. I highly recommend it.

SyncPad is a WiFI-based collaboration app. Enter in a title in the text field to start create a board. Enter in a title of the room on another device to join a board that has already been created. Drawings on the screen will appear on all screens that are connected to the same board. The drawing is a little slow sometimes due to the WiFi connection. However, the app seems better than some of the Bluetooth connected whiteboard apps.
Tap Forms Database LT
Tap Forms Database LT is a database app. The app has contains preset databases. It is a nice app for inventories, and attendance for example. Tap Forms is not the best app for databases that your own answer inputted.
Tangram is a shape placing app. Click on the template to select the pattern. Place the shapes over the template until the design has been completed. Some of the templates were pretty hard. You may want to try a different tangrams app if you are working with younger children.
Tangram Mania (Free)
Tangram Lite is a shapes game app. The object is to move the shapes over outline of the shape in the drawing. Good for K-2 students that need help with shapes.
TeacherKit is a student record app. The app records attendance and grades per period. Students can be recorded by name or image or both. The class was easy to set up. A teacher can create individual weights for grades and grading scale.
TED is a video viewing app of TED speakers. To be honest, I got this app to listen to Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs. There are a lot of interesting speakers in the app. The best feature which I wish more video streaming players would have is the ability to download video to be viewed offline.
Telomere's Hats HD Free
Telomere's Hats HD Free is an ebook reader. The free version contains one episode. If the app is purchased, 8 other episodes are added. The episodes are available in Japanese and English. The narration and the background music is on automatically. You have to go under setting in the app, to turn sown the narration and background music.
Three Little Pigs Storychimes
The Three Little Pigs Storychime is an ebook reader app ion the mold of what Disney has put out. It has read on your own and Read along option depending on the age of the reader. The text is a little smaller than other apps. The illustrations are done well and look current to today's drawing styles. It has a nice reading app.

TiltShift is an image editing app. Take images from Photos and converts them into a model view. It is a nice app if you want to take pictures of students. It can blur the faces of the students, but leave it clear o see the activity. This app is a little easier to use than TiltShift Generator, but does not have all of the functions.

Time To Learn
Time to learning is time telling app. The app asks you to move to the clock hand to a specific time. When the hands are in the right location, a funny animal appears. Sometimes the hands are a little to move, but it is a good app for learning the clock face.
Timmy Tiptoes is an ebook app of the book, Timmy Tiptoes. The controls are very limited in what they can do. The audio is set to auto-start with the app. Press the audio button to stop the audio. The image come up first. Scroll to the right to see the text. It is different from the way the other ebook readers work.

ToonPAINT is an image conversion app. This is an iPhone app. The app can take photo or import one from the library. The image will change into a black and white cartoon. Specifics can be changed (i.e shading). I adjust the shadings to blur students faces to make them not as recognizable. You can also pain the cartoon image and save it back to the photo library. I use this app when crating graphic novels that students are to be included. I wish the app had an iPAD counterpart.
Toontastic is a cartoon animation app. This app is the best of the bunch of cartoon building app. The app splits scenes up in to four segments. The backgrounds are a little limiting and I am not sure about drawing your background. It would be nice if you could add pictures from your photo gallery. The app records audio using the internal microphone.
Total Recall is a mind-mapping app. This app is limited to three mind maps. It is easy to use with colored bubbles and drag and drop linking. It is our preferred mind-mapping app to use in class. I wish the developers would sell a full version of the app instead of having an in-app purchase. We have used Total Recall with several age levels and all were able to create mind maps.
Totes m' Notes
TouchCalc is a calculator app. The app has multiple modes that does not not include graphing. It has plenty of functions for middle school, high school, and college math classes. The app does not rotate to landscape mode. The button seem a little small, but they need to be with all the features crammed in to interface.
Touchybooks for Kids HD
TtV Basic is a basic camera app with a couple of filters. The filters that are install are sepia and black & white. The app can switch between the front and rear camera. The images save to the photo album. It is a simple app to use to take pictures. Probably not my first choice to for apps to go with to take a picture.
TurboCollage is photo collage making app. The app pulls images from either the photo album or using the camera. Select multiple images from the album. Images will be placed in the work space. There are five patterns to choose from. Press on the images and drag it to a new location. There are several other settings to alter the background and spacing. The app has easy to use controls. Collages can be exported to Facebook, email, or photo library.
Tweetboard is a twitter search display app. The projection part of the app works very well. I like the searching feature. I wish the app would allow scrolling through the apps. I noticed as apps are populated and extent past the screen, I cannot scroll back to them. This could be a good app if you are using twitter as an audience response.

Twilight, The Graphic Novel Lite 1
Twilight , The Graphic Novel Lite 1 is a graphic novel app. This app is a sampler. It has 28 pages of the beginning of the novel. The text is a little small for me and is a hard to read in some areas. The colors are muted are blinds in the background nicely. You have to push on the page and drag it to the left to turn the pages. It is a little strange if you are not used to it.
Twitter is Twitter's official Twitter app. I like this app on the iPhone, and replaced my other Twitter app with this one. The iPAD app is pretty good. It is one of three Twitter apps that I use. I like the pull down the tweets feature to look for new tweets.
Twitterific is a twitter app. The free version allows one account to be followed. I like use it because it is simple to follow. It might not be the best app if you are following multiple lists.
Toy Story Read-Along
Toy Story Read-along is a reading / game app. . This is the free Toy Story, there are ones that can be purchased. It follows the storyline of the first to Toy Story movie. The story has three reading components: Read to me; Read with help; and read on your own. There are two games and three pages to paint. It is a really well thought out app.
Unit Circle HD
Unit Circle HD is an app that displays the unit circle. The circle is very responsive to finger controls. I like the colored lines on the axis. I remember doing this activity on an overhead. There is a template built in that shows all the angles on the circle.

Ustream Live Broadcaster
Ustream Live Broadcaster is an live streaming app. The app is an iPhone app, works with the iPAD 2. I had trouble connecting to the server on our university network, however I got it to connect at home. Ustream Live Broadcaster works well once connected and is a little clunky to get to that point. With the iPAD 2 out, there should be some improvements to the app with a little time.

VideoScience is a science video app. The app has 2-3 minute videos about a variety of experiments. These experiments appear o be middle and high school level. Videos are good quality.
Virtual Cell Animations
VLC Player is a video player app. So far, I have not gotten anything to play successfully. I tried a MKV, a MP4, and an AVI files. The AVI file did play, but it was choppy. This app looks like a beta, and needs some work.
Voicethread is a storytelling and presentation app. The app is similar to the web version. ????
Voice Record Pro
Voice Record Pro is an audio recording app. The layout is set up similar other recording apps. There are two meters at the top to show the quality of the recording. When ready to record, there are three setting for quality to choose. The counter at the top is a little small to see and where most recording apps flash a large red flashing button, it is very small. The offloading part of the app makes this app completely different from the others. Recordings can be emailed, saved to Google Drive, saved to Dropbox, saved to Skydrive, WiFi download, and open in another app. The Google Drive add-on is what really sold me on this app. I highly recommend this app for audio recording.
Voting Pad is a simple app. Votes can be displayed in three ways: either with a number, yes/no, and your own text. I really like the add your own text feature. Students could answer questions during review games or group activities by entering in.
Vtok is a Gtalk communication app. This app has the capabilities to communicate via chat, voice, and video. The chat and voice work ???. The video work OK once you get connected. We had attempt several times before we got to establish a connection.
Wall of Memories
The Washington app is a collection of history and quotes from George Washington. There are three selections to choose from. The first button has a biography. The second button is a list of quotes. The third button is a link to wikipedia. The size of the text is very easy to read. The app is very easy to use. If you need information about George Washington, this is a good place to start.
The Water Cycle
The Water Cycle is a simulation app. The app shows the direction of the cycle. The four stages are at the top of the app. Move the the name of the stage to the location in the cycle. The app is effective in the displaying the cycle information. I wish it did a little more.
Wattpad is an ebook reader for books in the Wattpad library. The text size and background color can change to help with readability. It is pretty much standard ebook reader.
Weather Radar Map HD Lite
Weather Radar Map HD Lite is a weather app. The app pulls from GoogleMaps for the background maps. ????
Web2VGA is a web browser projection app. It displays the web pages using the VGA connector app. It is pretty standard as far as web projectors go.
WebEx is a virtual conferencing app. We connected the app to our virtual service for campus. The quality was better than Skype in terms of video. We did experience a little feedback but that may have been because we were in the same room. If you use WebEx and like the experience from a desktop/laptop, than you will like the app. It is about the same.
Webprojector is pretty much Safari with display capabilities. It can display iPAD size or full screen. It is pretty responsive to touch commands.
Westward Expansion is a game app based on the exploration of North America. There are three game inside of the app. I found the game hard to play. The questions are in the lower left corner. The text fir the question needs to be larger. The graphics of the app is appropriate for late elementary and middle school. You have to be very careful when placing the enlarge stick pin on the little purple dots. You can't let it go until a green aura appears around the stick pin, and even then when you let it go, it doesn't stick where it's supposed to. The game will not progress until you get the stick pin stuck just right.
Wheels on the Bus HD
Wheels on the Bus HD is a sing-a-long app. The voice on the app sings the "Wheels on the Bus" song. Each verse has its own interactive page. There a few verses on the app that I did not know. Each page has between 2 - 3 interactions. This app is strictly a Pre-K app or one that a Kindergarten or 1st grade music class. It is fun app to use if you have a young kid.

WordCloud is exactly what it says, a word cloud app. It is not as nice as using Wordle. You can copy and past in to a word box or type in a letter. This is is suited more for the instructor to be projecting the app and having students adding to the cloud by telling the teacher. I tried pasting a paragraph in the box and the paragraph was pasted into the workspace. (not really a cloud) Once a word is added, the font can be changed and the size of the text can be changed by pinching and zooming. It is a little clunky to creating word clouds, but it will create them.
Wordweb Dictionary is an online dictionary app. Add a word or phase into the search bar and the results will appear on the right side. This app contains a thesaurus. It is standard for a dictionary app.
World Book - This Day in History for iPAD
World Book - This Day in History for iPAD is a this day app. Select a day in the calendar in the left column. The list for each day is limited to four items. It does not have an add item feature. The app is simple in design and use.
